I know...

http://www.dilday.com/index.cfm Those who knew Granny Sue definitely need to check this video out. It definitely did Granny justice. She was always so active with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. We had a lot of good memories together. We made several trips to Jackson and she would occasionally go with me to Dr. Maley's when the children had to get shots. She hated seeing that but she was there. I remember her glowing about her 99.00 couch she found (it was beautiful!). I remember when her hair style changed and I raved over it how she blushed. She always called Ezra "little spud' or "scrappy Williams". She adored Anna's curls and Elijah's fat legs. At Cane Creek when we went to visit her she patted Eli and said "Hey Fat Boy".."I have GOT to quit calling him that". Justin got to have a long talk with her that night about a month ago. Me and the kids went out to the car because they were getting fussy and Justin got undisturbed time with his Granny. They talked and talked. My best memory of Granny is of her little hardware house apron that she would wear (roofer's waist apron for nails) and she would have her yard sales and keep her money in it. She loved having yard sales.. and I don't care how much she said she didn't. I love how she kept her open saltines in a pringles container. I loved Granny's chicken and dressing and roast. I don't think I ever saw Granny that she didn't have her watch on.. and she was buried in it. I know how she liked "Deal or no Deal" , "Don't forget the lyrics" and "Are you smarter than a 5th grader". I also know that MANY MANY times Granny called Katie "Shelly" and I never had to correct her because I knew exactly who she meant. I know that Granny despised that I hardly ever put socks on my kids. It didn't matter to her if it was 100 degrees outside.. they needed socks. I also know Granny really didn't care for flowers too much.. that was Pa's doings. He is the flower lover...I think she just thought they were too much trouble. I also know that it irritated her to no end that at Dan's house there was 2 baskets of just socks to sort. She asked the girls to pin their socks together after taking them off and wash them in the pins that way you didn't have to sort them. I know that Granny couldn't stand the Tabasco peppers I canned and gave to her.. she said it would burn half of Carroll County up if you ate them on greens and then breathed out of your mouth. I know that Granny Sue loved taco's, spaghetti and rice but never cooked it because Pa doesn't like it. i know that when I called Granny I always had to say "this is Allie" because she always thought I was Shelly. I know that Granny soaked her roast in salt water over night because it made it tender and got all the red out. (best roast ever).. I also know that Granny would call ahead of time and talk to Pa's Dr before his appointments even though Pa had no idea and would be so mad at her.. she just had to tell the Dr's her side of the story and what was going on. I also know that Granny loved jarred candles. Her favorites were peach and cranberry mandarin. I know that Granny loved going to McKenzie to the resale shops and would often call and confirm Justin's pant size to bring him back a treat. I know that she made Pa vanilla milkshakes all the time and it would disturb her when he ate them in the living room with the kids around.. because you have to practice what you preach.. you can't eat in there if they can't. I also know that it used to make her worry that Dan slept with a fan on.. he couldn't hear the kids well enough. I didn't dare tall her we did too! I also know that Granny would rather hear Carter pray than anyone.. she thought he had the most beautiful prayers. I also know that Granny was at every single event that I can think of.. she never let us down. I know that Granny decided to go to Gatlinburg this year and talked Pa into it because it would be their last trip...she did it for the kids. She was like a kid in Gatlinburg. So excited to be there. I know Granny could not stnad dogs but was looking for a fiest for Pa when she went into the hospital because he loved having a puppy. I know that during any family dinner at her house she would be handwashing dishes at the sink in her apron. I know she kept her freezer stocked with all kids of sales at E.W. James and it always consisted of plenty of chicken. She told me at Cane Creek to get sausage and chicken out of the freezer. She always knew I would cook it. I know that Granny loved fruit tea and turnip greens but hardly ate or drank it because she wasn't supposed to. I know that Granny was the best at getting out stains. I would send things over that I couldn't get out and she never would let me down. I know when I had trouble when I was pregnant with Eli and was sick a lot she would came over and take some dirty laundry home and wash it and hang it on the line and on Justin's way home from work he would go and pick it up. It was neatly folded and ready to put up. I also know when I was sick with Eli in the mornings, a couple mornings she took Anna to school for me. She didn't feel good herself one morning and I didn't know it until later that day. She cared so much. She hid a lot of her pain from us.. because she cared so much about how we felt. I will miss you so much Granny Sue. We love you so much. You were too young to go...but we know where you are without a doubt. Ezra will keep the Scrappy Williams legacy around just for you Granny. And.. I am keeping the scissors out of his reach. Anna Claire says she can't wait to see your wings... she knows you have huge beautiful wings. She also wants you to teach her how to fly when she gets to Heaven to be with you... and faster than Ezra, of course.
