Granny Update

Update on Granny.. Granny will go to Cane Creek Rehab to go through rehabilitation. The papers are ready whenever she is OK to leave Vanderbilt. The Nutritionist came in last night to do the last swallow test because they keep wanting to put in a peg tube ( feeding tube directly to her stomach) which requires surgery, something that is a last resort. They want her body to rest and get strong not have to endure more trauma but she has no appetite and cannot swallow perfectly and needs strength. The doctors were dead set on putting it in Monday morning but the nutritionist asked if she could have one more day that she was improving so much. So, the doctor agreed. Tuesday they did the test and it was a little better but she was nauseous but did OK on her test but has a hard time doing so. So, they said last night they were getting ready to put it in and the nutritionist said "give her one more day" so they are doing one last swallowing test today then going to decided from there about the tube. Pray that she swallows well and gains strength. I know it will be hard on her learning to walk again so that it why we have decided that she needs company at cane creek so we will be sending Eli to learn to walk with her! OK, I am kidding but its a good idea.
